Some might recognize the subject line for this blog post. It’s the title of Simon Sinek’s best-selling book, and the topic of his TED Talk, which is number 3 most viewed all-time. Recently I was challenged to be more clear and compelling when sharing about the purposes behind CDI, and thinking about that reminded of Sinek’s admonition.
So, having already answered the “what” in a previous post, here is my shot at answering the question “Why?”:
At CDI we recognize something wonderful: There are people who want to do good and be a blessing, whether in their local community or around the world. We have a passion to come alongside them to help strengthen and encourage their efforts.
With this in mind, here is a bonus addition to the “What”:
We pursue this goal in 3 primary ways:
- We help form connections, especially those with a cross-cultural component.
- We develop and participate in activities that further their goals.
- We teach and train their leaders and others.
And a dose of the “How”:
What this looks like depends on the needs of each particular partner. Currently we are involved in unique efforts in China, Thailand, India, and in our own community along the Wild Rivers Coast.
What about you? What about your business, organization, or church? If someone were to ask, could you start with why? Send me a note and let’s dialogue about your own efforts to answer that question…
