Local Application of International Lessons

“How can we apply the principles we’ve learned internationally to be a blessing locally?”  That’s a question we’ve been asking for the past year. Now, we are ready to pursue at least part of the answer by launching our first major domestic initiative in an exciting partnership with Global Church Ministries.

For the next several months, we’ll be conducting a research and survey project focused on Christian Churches in the region surrounding our new community, an area popularly known as the “Wild Rivers Coast.”  Read all about it on our new page dedicated to this project.

This project was born out of an academic paper written by Rob Foster addressing the renewed national interest in small town churches.  The preparation of that paper connected us to several other organizations such as Small Town Jesus and Small Town Summits, who subsequently published the paper as a resource on their own sites (here and here).  Ultimately Rob was able to travel to North Carolina for a Small Town Jesus Conference where he spent time with leaders from both organizations along with others who are passionate about the small town church.

All of this created a desire to learn more about small town churches in our region, and to see what we might do to help encourage, equip, and strengthen those churches and church leaders as they seek to be a blessing in their respective communities.  Thus, the Churches of the Wild Rivers Coast project was launched!  We are thrilled for the opportunity to use what we have learned internationally over the past 20 years to serve our local community.
