Integrated Tribal Organization for Upliftment, Communication, and Health (InTOUCH) is a faith-based Community Development organization founded by Dr. and Mrs. Lorho Pfoze in Mao, Manipur, a small community in Northeast India. The goal of InTOUCH is to raise awareness, initiate, and model compassionate care in the local community.
In response to the suffering they have observed in the hills and rural areas surrounding their community, the Pfozes have developed a multi-faceted approach, with efforts ranging from health care and training, economic development and microfinance, agricultural initiatives, and improvements to local infrastructure, primarily through the drilling of water wells.
InTOUCH is currently developing a Community Resource Center to serve as a permanent base for their efforts. This facility will include a medical clinic and surgical center and classrooms for small business and agricultural training along with a dining hall and dorm/hostel for guests.
CDI partners with InTOUCH to provide medical teams two times per year, which assists them in providing medical training, conducting health camps, and meeting the surgical needs in the community. These activities enhance the reputation of InTOUCH among local leaders and provide much needed support to advance their larger goals. In addition, CDI is working with InTOUCH to identify resources for the equipment and financial needs of the Community Resource Center.
